It’s Monday, and I’m beating the Monday blues by putting my spin on the monochromatic trend. I mixed in some white with my button down, and I love the contrast. The great thing about jumping on the monochromatic train is it doesn’t mean you have to wear the same shade of blue head to toe. You can mix it up, and with various shades of whatever color you’d like to experiment with. Blue is one of those colors that has been really growing in my closet. I bought this button down last season, but I linked this really cute top that’s so soft. Ohh and a total win finding another pair of jeans in my closet that fit. Seriously, I forgot I had these, and then found them. I was skeptical, but they fit nicely. And not in that they fit, but they’re cutting off my circulation way. So total win in my book!!
So, when you’re looking to try the monochromatic trend I’ve got a few tips for how to style a monochromatic outfit.
- Find a color you like in shades that you love.
- I try to wear the lighter shades on top, or for the accessories. I prefer to wear darker shades on bottom because darker colors are more slenderizing.
- Wearing the same color in different shades from head to toe creates a seamless line which is great for all my petite ladies like me. It will make you appear taller and thinner.
- Anyone whose a little curvier like me may want to follow my rule on darker shades on bottom. That’s why I went with these dark skinny jeans, and had the lightest shades of blue be my handbag, and top.
In other news, my hubby and I had a date over the weekend. It was so nice to have some quality time just the two of us. We did talk about our babies 90% of the time, but it was so nice. We went to Trulucks in The Woodlands. Date nights don’t happen often since neither of us have family in the area. It’s always really special to get to connect just the two of us. I’d love suggestions from anyone that has kiddos, and family that doesn’t live close by on how you keep date night alive. Since my children aren’t verbal yet I’m not comfortable leaving them with a sitter that isn’t family, or a dear friend.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope y’all had a great weekend!!

I love how you’ve mixed your blues here, and you’ve convinced me I need a blue plaid shirt in my wardrobe. (Mine are all pinks and reds.)

I recently started playing with monochromatic looks via a bunch of different shades of gray or denim on denim. It’s so much fun!
