Good morning! Lately, I have been getting questions asking about how to shop using Like To Know It. How do I sign up as a blogger?
Those are just a few of the questions I get on a daily basis. It seems people are a little confused on what Like To Know It is, how to shop it, what the little heart on my Instagram photos is, and what is the benefit of using it. I decided a few weeks ago after talking to my little sister and realizing she didn’t understand exactly what it is. That it was time to explain and share a little blurb and tutorial on how to shop my photos as a user. When I am finished I’ll explain it a little more from a bloggers perspective and how you can sign up.
What is Like To Know It and how does it work?
Okay, let’s get started. Do you see the little heart in the bottom right-hand corner of the picture? In the caption do you see the @liketoknowit tagged as well as a Like To Know Url and a couple of #Ltk tags? When you see those that is how you know my picture has been enabled by the Like To Know It. So if you want to shop my blouse, jeans, handbag, earrings, watch, or bracelet you can do it by simply using the Like To Know It.
What is Like To Know It? It a service that allows you to shop products you see in your social media feed. The company Reward Style is the company behind the Like To Know It technology and has totally revolutionalized the way most of us shop.
Alright, let’s get started. First, you download the free Like To Know It App in the App Store. Then you set up your account. All you need is an email address and password.
When you’re done with downloading the app go to Instagram and look for pictures with the @liketoknowit tagged in the caption. Take a screenshot of the picture and then look for it to instantly show up in the app. When you look at the pictures in the app you will see all the shoppable content below the picture similar to this one. If you click on an item it will take you to the store where that item is from.
Another really easy way to shop Like To Know It is by opening the app and then searching for your favorite bloggers (Hint hint just type in prettyinherpearls) in the search bar. It’ll take you to the profile and all their LTKIT enabled images all in one spot. Just click on any photo to see the details of where everything is from. Here is what my LTKit profile looks like on the app.
I use Like To Know It to shop my favorite bloggers outfits too. I love that it’s a centralized location where I can find everything I love that they are sharing.
It’s important to note you don’t have to have the Like To Know It app to shop my blog or Instagram. Just go to my sidebar on the right-hand side and click Shop My Instagram. Click on any of my photos and you can shop all my outfit details.
HOW CAN I SIGN UP FOR LIKE TO KNOW IT AS A BLOGGER?
I mentioned earlier that Reward Style is the company behind Like To Know It and that it’s a free app that anyone can join. Using Like To Know It as a blogger is a little different. It’s an application based way to monetize your blog and Instagram. As a blogger it allows you to make a commission off if someone buys anything that is linked in your photos.
Reward Style needs to be able to see a few things before you are allowed to be part of this program and start making that money aka commision. They want to see that your Instagram and blog content in current and good quality. Are you posting clothes, decor, etc that is linkable and that people can currently buy? On your blog are you sharing the exact shoppable link or something similar in regards to what you are wearing in your photos? The same concept goes with Instagram as well.
You can apply to the Reward Style website and the application process is pretty straightforward. Just so you know this can sometimes be a little disheartening. You don’t always get accepted the first time. In full disclosure, I applied three times and finally got accepted last year. The waiting was the hardest part for me because they don’t give you a timeline of when to expect an answer from them. Either way, you will get an email letting you know the news. If you do get accepted they will provide you with some really good educational tutorials and articles on how to set up your Reward Style account and how to best utilize it.
My tip if you don’t get accepted is to really focus on the things I suggested above and keep your head up. I know it can be hard and it’s easy to get discouraged and start the comparison game. My biggest advice is don’t. Focus on you and growing your brand.
