What’s in my makeup bag:
Last week, I shared what my skincare routine is for ‘Break Up With Your Makeup’ Campaign, so I thought today was the perfect time to share what’s in my makeup bag. You can read about my skincare routine here, and enter to win all the skincare goodies. Before I went on maternity leave, I had a few questions about my beauty routine. I thought this was the perfect time to share my favorite products for putting my face on (that sounds a little weird hmm) in the morning. These are my go to products that make getting ready go a little smoother. They can be a little pricey, but for the most part a little goes a long way. So most of them will last you a long time.
These two Bobbi Brown products are my favorites!! I use them religiously every morning, and night. I can tell a huge difference underneath my eyes especially, if I don’t use the eye cream at night. It just makes the bags so much less noticeable. This is a must since I am keeping late hours with my little man. The moisturizer is amazing. My forehead gets super dry, and this has been my saving grace. It moisturizes without causing insane breakouts. Which is something I have to be really careful about.
Primers are what help to keep my makeup looking smooth. Since I have large pores these two are must haves for me. This one fills in the pores to give a more even skin texture; while this one helps absorb the oils in my skin. I only use the Smashbox Anti-shine on my forehead, nose, and a tiny bit on my chin. These are the areas that get really oily for me. These two goodies are my little secret weapon; especially on days where I am taking blog photos, or the obligatory selfie for Instagram. Which lets not kid is pretty much everyday. I love taking pictures with my little man!! I just found out Smashbox doesn’t make the anti-shine I love anymore, so I’ll be trying this one next time.
When I wear eyeshadow, I always begin with a primer. This one has been on repeat in my makeup bag for forever. I love that it really keeps my eyeshadow in place instead of letting the Texas heat and humidity melt them off. It’s a real thing here!! I promise!! I use darker eyeshadows in my crease. I’ll link them below. The key to making it work for spring/summer is starting out with just a small amount of color on your brush and building as you go. Then I add a little sparkle with Amber Lights eyeshadow on my lids. Y’all can definitely tell I have used this color for a while. It’s one of my favorites. On the inner corners of my eyes I apply Shroom . Doing this really helps to make me look refreshed and well rested. This is pretty much my daily routine.
Base, concealer, and higlighter:
I love this concealer. I discovered this one while watching two of my favorite makeup artist on Youtube. Their channel is called Pixiwoo. Check them out when you have the time. I use the concealer underneath my eyes, on the edges of my nose, where I sometimes battle redness. This base goes on really easily, and I apply it with this amazing brush. It’s another tool that helps me makes my pores a little less noticeable. This highlighter is one of my faves!! I use it on the bridge of my nose, forehead, cheeks, cupids bow, and chin. Basically, I use this where ever I can. It works really well, and gives a really pretty highlight without looking sparkly.
Blush and contour:
I know many people that have asked me ‘What’s Contouring, and Why Would I Want to do it?‘ Well, contouring is a technique I practice every single day. I love Gingerly for adding a subtle contour to my cheeks. I use this brush when I contour. It’s pretty much one of the most amazing brushes because it’s precise, and that is so important when you’re contouring. Otherwise it can turn out looking more like a bruise than great cheek bones. Blushes are my weakness, and Dame has been on repeat in my makeup bag for over a year!!!
Since I wasn’t blessed with super long lashes like my husband, I use a few products to make them look longer and fuller. I tried using products like Xlash to try to extend my lashes and although I have found “fakies” to be easier to use, I will continue to try out products like these as the effects normally last longer and the product is therefore cheaper in the long run! An eyelash curler is a must!! This eyelash curler is from Sephora, and they have a whole line of them that are specifically made for your eye shape. I wasn’t sold st first, but since using it for a few months, I’m a believer. I use L’oreal mascara but, only the primer side/white side of the L’oreal mascara wand. It really helps add length and fullness to my lashes. If I’m going somewhere special I usually add two coats of it. Then I’ll apply my eyeliner. If y’all have haven’t tried MACS Paint Pots they are life changing, and you need to use this brush. It’s worth it to have one for your eyeliner, one for your eyebrows, and so worth the splurge. Your eyes will thank me. Then I use mascara, and average about two coats.
Lip color and nail polish:
Creme Cup lipstick is one of my favorites of all time!!! I wear it all the time with Posh It Up gloss. The gloss does smell a little like Play Doh, but it gives such a pretty sheen I can get passed the Play Doh smell. Mod Squad by Essie has been on repeat when I have the time to paint my nails. It’s a really pretty, famine, fun shade for spring.
In the next few weeks, I’ll share how I apply everything in my makeup bag. Don’t forget to enter the Cetaphil/Selfie stick giveaway!!! Thanks for reading, and I hope y’all have a fabulous day!!

I love your blog! Especially the “how to’s” with makeup and clothes.
Your eyeliner looks so pretty, how do you apply eyeliner?
My eyeliner never seems to look right when I apply it. Would love to see a “how to” on applying eyeliner.
