This past week we’ve had gorgeous warm weather half the week, and chilly temps the other half of the week. Since it was unseasonably warm part of the week, I thought it was the perfect time to share how I dress down dresses. This Devlin Collection dress is the perfect example of a gorgeous dress that can be dressed down with just a few tweaks. I was lucky enough to win this dress during an Instagram giveaway that Elly from Uptown Elly Brown had while I was pregnant. I was so excited to wear this after the baby came. Hooray it fits now!! Okay so, lets get started on some tips on how you can dress down almost any dress in your closet.
How to dress down a dress in 5 easy steps
- Add a denim jacket or cardigan. Denim is a more casual fabric so it will take the outfit from dressy to a more casual look.
- For all my ladies that still want a shoe that gives them a little height opt for a cute wedge bootie. This will add height, and give still give a more casual feeling to an outfit.
- Wear sneakers instead of stilettos. This will give a really casual cute vibe.I’m really liking how a lot of people are wearing Converse with dresses now. It’s such a cute way to make it casual without giving up style. I love this look during spring and summer!!
- Wear minimal jewelry, and leave the really glitzy blingy (I hope this is a word!! It is in my world!!) jewelry at home.
- Keep the makeup and hair pretty natural looking.
In other news, this lady had an impromptu date night the day my hubby took these photos of this dress. I thought we were walking back to the car, and he said lets have a quick sushi date. I was so excited, but a little worried because my MIL was watching both our babies. My son is technically a toddler, and has a lot of energy. He loves running around the house. Seriously where does this energy they have come from? I could use some of my sons energy like everyday!! Thankfully my MIL said he was really good for her. She’s been here for almost two weeks, and has seriously been a life saver. It’s also been so nice having another adult at the house to talk to. I am seriously love the company!! Thankfully she’ll be back for my sons birthday in February!!
On another note, have any of y’all gotten your baby girls ears pierced before? I’m new to this. I know my mom had mine pierced when I was just a baby, and want carry on the tradition with my Sofi girl. Any advice or suggestion where you went etc. is really appreciated!! Thank you!!
Hope y’all have a wonderful weekend!!
