This past week we’ve had gorgeous warm weather half the week, and chilly temps the other half of the week. Since it was unseasonably warm part of the week, I thought it was the perfect time to share how I dress down dresses. This Devlin Collection dress is the perfect example of a gorgeous dress that can be dressed down with just a few tweaks. I was lucky enough to win this dress during an Instagram giveaway that Elly from Uptown Elly Brown had while I was pregnant. I was so excited to wear this after the baby came. Hooray it fits now!! Okay so, lets get started on some tips on how you can dress down almost any dress in your closet.

How to dress down a dress in 5 easy steps

  • Add a denim jacket or cardigan. Denim is a more casual fabric so it will take the outfit from dressy to a more casual look.
  • For all my ladies that still want a shoe that gives them a little height opt for a cute wedge bootie. This will  add height, and give still give a more casual feeling to an outfit.
  • Wear sneakers instead of stilettos. This will give a really casual cute vibe.I’m really liking how a lot of people are wearing Converse with dresses now. It’s such a cute way to make it casual without giving up style. I love this look during spring and summer!!
  • Wear minimal jewelry, and leave the really glitzy blingy (I hope this is a word!! It is in my world!!) jewelry at home.
  • Keep the makeup and hair pretty natural looking.

In other news, this lady had an impromptu date night the day my hubby took these photos of this dress. I thought we were walking back to the car, and he said lets have a quick sushi date. I was so excited, but a little worried because my MIL was watching both our babies. My son is technically a toddler, and has a lot of energy. He loves running around the house. Seriously where does this energy they have come from? I could use some of my sons energy like everyday!! Thankfully my MIL said he was really good for her. She’s been here for almost two weeks, and has seriously been a life saver. It’s also been so nice having another adult at the house to talk to. I am seriously love the company!! Thankfully she’ll be back for my sons birthday in February!!

On another note, have any of y’all gotten your baby girls ears pierced before? I’m new to this. I know my mom had mine pierced when I was just a baby, and want carry on the tradition with my Sofi girl. Any advice or suggestion where you went etc. is really appreciated!! Thank you!!

Hope y’all have a wonderful weekend!!

XO, Angela

It’s All About Hearts On Valentines

January 24, 2017

Valentines Heart Themed Clothing and Accessories, Houston Blogger, Pretty In Her Pearls1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 /9

Hearts are one of my favorite shapes, and Valentines is all about some hearts. I’ve rounded up my favorite heart themed clothing and accessories. I really wish I had one of each of these in my closet. I especially love  the sweatshirt with the hearts on the elbows, and the Wine Valentines sweatshirt is so cute. It also, looks really soft. Heart shaped sunglasses are so cute, and the ones I linked are under $15. I don’t like to spend a lot on trendy accessories that I won’t get much wear after February 14th. Everything listed is less than $100. The heart sweatshirt I would definitely wear after Valentines though. I love the shade of red.

In other news, my little monkey was invited to his first Valentines party. I’m excited for him to get to hangout with other kids because he’s with me almost all day. Which I love, but we all need time around friends.

What’s your favorite Valentines themed clothing?

XO, Angela

Beating The Monday Blues + How To Rock Monochromatic Style

It’s Monday, and I’m beating the Monday blues by putting my spin on the monochromatic trend. I mixed in some white with my button down, and I love the contrast. The great thing about jumping on the monochromatic train is it doesn’t mean you have to wear the same shade of blue head to toe. You can mix it up, and with various shades of whatever color you’d like to experiment with. Blue is one of those colors that has been really growing in my closet. I bought this button down last season, but I linked this really cute top that’s so soft. Ohh and a total win finding another pair of jeans in my closet that fit. Seriously, I forgot I had these, and then found them. I was skeptical, but they fit nicely. And not in that they fit, but they’re cutting off my circulation way. So total win in my book!!

So, when you’re looking to try the monochromatic trend I’ve got a few tips for how to style a monochromatic outfit.

  • Find a color you like in shades that you love.
  • I try to wear the lighter shades on top, or for the accessories. I prefer to wear darker shades on bottom because darker colors are more slenderizing.
  • Wearing the same color in different shades from head to toe creates a seamless line which is great for all my petite ladies like me. It will make you appear taller and thinner.
  • Anyone whose a little curvier like me may want to follow my rule on darker shades on bottom. That’s why I went with these dark skinny jeans, and had the lightest shades of blue be my handbag, and top.

In other news, my hubby and I had a date over the weekend. It was so nice to have some quality time just the two of us. We did talk about our babies 90% of the time, but it was so nice. We went to Trulucks in The Woodlands. Date nights don’t happen often since neither of us have family in the area. It’s always really special to get to connect just the two of us. I’d love suggestions from anyone that has kiddos, and family that doesn’t live close by on how you keep date night alive. Since my children aren’t verbal yet I’m not comfortable leaving them with a sitter that isn’t family, or a dear friend.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope y’all had a great weekend!!

XO, Angela
